Lyophilized (Unreconstituted) Retatrutide
QSC Retatrutide is supplied as a white lyophilized powder. In this unreconstituted state it is significantly more stable than in solution. Properly stored lyophilized peptide maintains potency for:
- At 2–8°C (refrigerated): 18–24 months from manufacture date
- At –20°C (frozen): 24–36 months, though freeze-thaw cycling degrades the peptide
- At room temperature (15–25°C): up to 30 days with minimal degradation if kept dry and protected from light
Short-term ambient storage (shipping transit) does not significantly impact potency if the vial is sealed and the duration is under 14 days.
Reconstituted Retatrutide
Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water (BAC water), Retatrutide should be treated with greater care. The benzyl alcohol preservative in BAC water inhibits microbial growth and extends usable life, but the peptide in solution is now subject to oxidation, hydrolysis, and aggregation.
| Condition | Maximum Stable Duration |
|---|---|
| 2–8°C (refrigerator) | 21–28 days |
| –20°C (freezer, single freeze) | Not recommended — degrades BAC preservative |
| Room temperature (>25°C) | 4–8 hours maximum |
Light Sensitivity
Retatrutide, like most GLP-1 class peptides, is photosensitive. Prolonged exposure to UV or direct sunlight can cause peptide bond cleavage and reduce potency. Store vials in the original packaging, amber glass vials, or at minimum in a dark drawer or opaque container. Do not leave vials on a countertop or near a window.
Handling Best Practices
- Allow refrigerated vials to reach room temperature (10–15 minutes) before reconstituting to reduce thermal shock
- Use a new sterile needle when drawing from a multi-use vial
- Wipe the rubber stopper with an alcohol swab before each draw
- Never shake the vial — rolling gently is sufficient for mixing if cloudiness develops
- Label reconstituted vials with the reconstitution date
- Discard any vial showing visible particulates, cloudiness that does not resolve, or a colour change from clear to yellow
Travelling with Retatrutide
For research transport, lyophilized vials can be carried at ambient temperature for up to 14 days. For longer transit or if the destination temperature exceeds 25°C, use an insulated carry case with ice packs (not in direct contact with vials). Reconstituted vials should be transported in a medical/pharmaceutical cooler maintaining 2–8°C.
QSC ships all Retatrutide with appropriate insulation. Domestic US shipments typically arrive within 2–5 days at ambient temperatures that do not compromise potency during transit.
When to Discard
Discard Retatrutide if: the vial seal has been compromised, the powder appears discoloured or has clumped in unusual patterns, the reconstituted solution shows persistent cloudiness or particulates after gentle rolling, the reconstituted vial is more than 28 days old, or the vial has been stored at temperatures above 30°C for more than 48 hours.
